Basic Essentials Workgroup

Purpose: Our group’s mission is  “to raise awareness about the physical, emotional, and financial impact of diaper need and period poverty and to inform policies and create a framework for diaper bank development and sustainability statewide.”  Diaper Need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a child clean, dry, and healthy. Period Poverty is the lack of access to sanitary products, toilets, menstrual hygiene education, handwashing facilities, and waste management. OR, simply put, the lack of an adequate supply of essential period products necessary to participate fully in day-to-day life. Meeting basic needs allows families to achieve independence, growth, and stability with dignity. Sadly, too often, Basics aren’t Basic!  The Basic Essentials Workgroup will bring a unified voice to ensure that our communities “Meet Basic Needs and Raise Up Colorado Families”!
